Weather

Heavy overcast for most of the day with strong winds at the summit. Light snow at times. Visibility very flat.

Overall

Jenny and Chris wanted to try snowboarding. Park City did not permit snowboarding, so we went to Park West.

Details of the lifts

The youngsters were equipped and booked into their introduction to snowboarding session and that left me with nothing to do. One of the advantages of going to one of the less fashionable resorts is that both lift tickets and lessons are cheaper, so I took a 2 hour private lesson.

This proved to be really valuable. The instructor focused on building rhythm and for the last run before lunch, we made a passable run down the Slaughterhouse mogul run. I spent all of the afternoon on the same run, which had a short, gentle mogul field at the top and a long run out. Gradually, I managed to get further through the moguls without stopping.

Chris and Jenny? They learned to snowboard .. but have never actually asked to do it again!

Sue skied all the way down from the Summit at Park City .. a major achievement.
